En Praemortis los hombres han decidido olvidar cualquier promesa de vida futura que ofrecen las religiones y se centran en disfrutar su vida presente.
El Dr. Veldecker, buscando una cura para su hijo, descubre una fórmula que hace que los pacientes traspasen la frontera de la vida mortal y descubran lo que les guardará al morir. El doctor decide destruir la fórmula que ha llamado Praemortis pero su hijo Robert la conserva en secreto. Robert funda una corporación donde su fin es controlar a la humanidad. Al parecer solo un ser sobrenatural y misterioso, no humano, que se hace llamar «Golem» puede cambiar el futuro.
La novela pretende adentrarse en las inquietudes existencialistas que todo ser humano posee. Éstas son atemporales y ajenas a religiones o variaciones de la sociedad. Praemortis habla de esa inquietud, de la búsqueda de respuestas en un mundo que avanza hacia su final.

In Praemortis men have decided to forget all the afterlife concepts that all religions promises and focus on enjoying their present life.
Dr.Veldecker, seeking for a cure for his son, discovers a formula which makes the patients cross the border of mortal life and discover what awaits for them at death. The doctor decides to destroy the formula that he named as Praemortis. His son Robert, secretly keeps the formula and establishes corporation which main purpose is to gain control over humanity. There is a supernatural, mysterious, non-human being, which calls itself the "Golem" who seems able to change the future.
The novel aims to venture into the existential questions that every human being possesses. These questions are timeless and non-religious and are not affected by changes in society. Praemortis speaks of this concern, in the search for answers in a world that rushes towards its end.
